Boo! Dreaded red dots of death! - mojoguzzi - 02-01-2025 Ugh. After my strut-fail message and service got resolved (new battery!), I got the bike home and rode it maybe 100 miles. Put it on a new charger. Went to ride today...and upon invocation of the starter button, saw the TFT flashing a red light in the bottom left. First it flashed rapidly, then a few slower blips, then nothing. New Optimate trickle charger showed normal lights. Dealer will pick it up on 13 February. Anyone else have this happen? RE: Boo! Dreaded red dots of death! - mojoguzzi - 02-01-2025 NEVER MIND! I AM AN IDIOT. I had taken the motorcycle key out of my riding pants' pocket weeks ago when I was putting bags back on. I'd not placed the key back into my Aerostich Transit pants It was instead hanging on our key rack. I just checked and yes--bike is fine! Occam's Razor! (the simplest solution is usually the right solution). A place for everything and everything in its place. RE: Boo! Dreaded red dots of death! - Lee - 02-01-2025 I can't count how many times my car would not start because I left the fob in the house ![]() RE: Boo! Dreaded red dots of death! - TriangleRider - 02-04-2025 The blinking red dot is the bike telling you that the key is not in range. So you learned something, but a dealer agreed to pick up your bike without mentioning this to you? RE: Boo! Dreaded red dots of death! - maxredline - 02-06-2025 Lol, 60's moment. RE: Boo! So you learned something, but a dealer agreed to pick up your bike without mentioning this to you? No--sorry. I was texting with him--told him the symptoms, and he said, "That usually signifies your fob battery is dead or out of range." I went out with my fob and, as they say in Languedoc, "Voilá!" And all's right with the world. When I told him what a dunce I was, he said, "Roger that, and no shame here! I am totally with you man, I barely remember what I ate for breakfast yesterday!" |
