The May issue of MOA ON has a nice piece on cheap, useful doo-dads, including the Helmet Hook.
https://thehelmethook.com/products/the-helmet-hook
Looks straightforward enough, so just wondering if anyone here is an actual happy customer or if other options have been unearthed.
Thankfully, I've never dropped a helmet or had one slide off of a bike, so maybe I'm just lucky; "careful" eventually catches up to you, huh?
Anyway, "cheap" doesn't necessarily equal "value" if it's something you end up not using, so my jury's still out on this one.

I never like just sitting my helmet on the seat or tank.
We stopped sitting our helmet on the ground years ago. While in Texas one of the locals told us not to do that because of scorpions.
We hang our helmets from a #2 Nite Ize S-Binder that's attached under the rear rack.

Actually, yes I do have one of these on my RS, and I absolutely swear by it. Does exactly what it's supposed to; and I literally use it every time I get the bike out. It's really non-fiddly and easy to use, and doesn't get in the way at all by being there. Often gets commented on by other riders!
Mine was originally bought for my previous bike (a Suzuki V-Strom 650) and I transferred it to my RS about 4 years ago; after that was written off I moved the same one (undamaged!) to my current RS.

Fire ants here, but the idea is the same. D loops fit around the rear luggage mount with no luggage. If luggage is mounted, there is a nice ledge. Yes, I've dropped my fair share of helmets.

I knew this was something I forgot after seeing your bikes with the helmets hanging under the racks. Isn't the #2 (10#) a bit of overkill? Do you ned that size to be able to hook onto the rack or would a #1 do? Amazon has a 2pk of #1 (5#) for $4.

Yeah I saw that in the ON magazine too and wondered about that ... I thought it was just a double hook and that it was just hooked over the handlebar but now I see that it is bolted on to whatever you have easy access to, like a bar-end weight.

We use the plastic ones. Size 2 is 2 inches long. A 1 inch would be pretty tiny.
I remove the little plastic cover on the rear rack and make a loop with thin double sided Velcro.
When I put the plastic cover back on it traps the Velcro.
Our helmets don't have D rings so we run a extension through the helmet strap latch. These are sold so you can lock a Nolan or Schuberth.

Good tip about the size ... I guess #2 mean 2" overall length? I think I will get a 2-pack of #2. Have to investigate the attachment first since neither bike has the RS rack.

Yes, two inch overall length.
These S hooks are handy, I probably have a dozen of them.
Besides Amazon and Ebay you can find them at camping or hardware stores.
Depending on your racks you could use a large size and only hook it on the rack or other spot when you use it.
We leave our S hooks in place all the time but could remove it in a second if I wanted.
Our main reason to use the hook is to keep the helmet from falling off the bike, not lock it.
When we need to lock the helmets we use a cable.

Yes, I have a Helmetlok as well as a cable but I put it in the top box as the easiest solution. I would like the hook for the same reason as you ... not to lock it but to secure it for short time and not having it on the sloped seat.
