Bought my first BMW yesterday Couldn't let this beauty slip through my fingers! A 2020 model with lots of the bells and whistles that I don't even know yet what they are.
I've been looking for a "more touring friendly but still spirited" bike to replace my 2017 Yamaha FZ10 for longer rides that's not as heavy as the FJR, which was the only option in my mind in the Yamaha family. I absolutely love my FZ10 and will keep it as my track bike, even though it's not the best suited for that, but it's best suited for me as I'm recovering from having had 2 knee replacements at the end of last year (I'm selling my R6 if anyone's interested).
I was able to take the R1250RS for a test ride before buying it and immediately felt at home. Very comfortable to move, wiggly in the right way, does NOT let that uppity car that thinks it can get ahead first from a red light get ahead, very grin worthy. And starting the engine was a revelation! The FZ10 sounds great when with the stock muffler when it's going, but MAN the fist growl when this BMW starts... Very exciting. And the entire bike moves when it starts!
There will be a lot for me to unravel and learn about this new to me bike, but I'm excited to become a part of this forum and learn from all of you!
The worst part is that I can't actually ride it yet, there's still too much salt on the roads here in Maine. Already had to wash it once after the test ride... Can't wait for the riding season to officially start!
