  I kept the BMW cradle and went with Kristopher Ryan's adapter kit to be able to keep the BMW-keyed locking functionality.  This also meant I don't have to remember to remove and store an unsecured GPS during stops (which I can guarantee I would forget multiple times). 

I like having the GPS locked. At stops we always leave our GPS units on the bikes and sometimes at nights I'll leave them on with a small cover over the GPS.
On the K1300S we did not have locks for the GPSs. On those bikes if we could not see the bikes at stops I would remove the GPS.
