I have my 18ft Maintenance Trailer with me and I carry some fans that can cool down the engine to below 95F/35C in 2hrs. 
In that time, I can be completely set up to do the checks with the correct expansion of internal parts...I use a Laser Temp reader to check all the way to the Crankshaft.

I'll be starting a dedicated thread on the BMWST.com UN Rally Forum post soon to get folks signed up for specific days while I'm there.

I'm going to look into holding a WetHead/ShiftHead Tech Day at my house in Rhode Island this summer, specifically for the folks on this RS Forum and maybe include the R bikes as well.
