So I did a thing
#1
A few years back I took out the R1200RS because I wanted to see what the bike was all about. I really liked it but I couldnt get past the antiquated dash and other features that I felt were lacking on a bike around $20k.

To preface, I have had my 2013 Harley FatBob for 6 years. Before that I had a Diavel, an S1000RR and a Monster.

The Harley was the longest relationship I had with a bike as I usually got bored after a bit and all the modifying I could do. I really liked the Harley, and even took it on a 1600 round trip ride to the Tail of the Dragon a few years ago.

Recently though, I started not enjoying it and was looking for something a bit more comfortable as well as sporty for twisty rides. I went on a mission to research other bikes. I got interested in the new Honda CB1000R, Yamaha MT10, Triumph S3 RS, KTM SDGT and the new R1250RS. Back in December, I went to the NY motorcycle show and pretty much all the bikes were there except the Beemer. It seemed this bike would never launch here in the US. After all my research, I decided I wanted something more "sport touring", so it took it down to two bikes.

Anyway, a few weeks ago I took out an older SDGT just to get a feel of the bike. It was pretty much everything the reviews said. It was wicked fun and decently comfortable. Unfortunately, because it was the older model, it didnt have the new TFT display which I was really interested in. The biggest issue for me on the test ride, was my right hand became numb halfway through. There were tons of high pitched vibrations in the handlebars that were more akin to a 4 cyl than a v-twin. It was very odd and offputting.

Needless to say, it just so happened my local BMW dealer(which I got a couple of my previous bikes from) let me know they got an R1250RS in finally. They said they could prep it for me to test ride if I wanted. It took a couple weeks but I finally made it in this past Friday to demo it.

It happened that I fell in love with the bike the moment I sat on it and fired up the ignition. It performed exactly as I was hoping. Also luckily enough for me, it was the end of the month and they were pushing to get bikes out. They ended up making me an offer for my Harley that I couldnt refuse and I bought the Beemer. It was the only one they got in and apparently the only one they are getting for a while. It seems not many of these are making their way to dealers.

I got it out yesterday for her maiden voyage on a few hour ride. It was glorious. The comfort, the handling, the engine! Its everything a bike could be. The most amazing part is the suspension. I was following other riders who literally had to lift themselves off their seats on bumpy roads and I just cruised right through.

Anyway, happy to be a part of this community and looking forward to slowly modifying her. Oddly enough, this is the first bike Ive ever gotten that I really like stock, theres nothing I feel I need to do to it.
