I had made an appointment for the free final drive check and spline lube, and decided to bump it to the 12k service, minus the engine oil, final drive lube, and air cleaner services, which I done myself (thank you, Goat, for those excellent videos!). They checked the valve clearances and gave me a copy of the measurement sheet. They also checked all sorts of other components, which were all in the green on the green/yellow/red checklist. I also purchased five new aluminum O-rings for the engine drain plug, and a small bottle of final drive lube, and I was out of there for $499. The lady at the service desk said it would have been more like $1,100 if I hadn't done the engine, final drive, and air filter myself (YIKES).
It rained all day on the way in and was still going on my way back home to my secret HQ in the Snoqualmie Valley. OXCART ran just fine both ways, so, I guess they didn't screw anything up.
All in all, it was a good experience. The kick-ass coffee they have there helped.

I pretty much hate all dealers. I bought my bike from Seattle BMW and it wasn't the worst experience. Yet, I was convinced at the time that they were like any other motorcycle dealer and they were not going to be seeing me for anything. However, the more I've been around them and have seen their support for the motorcycling community, the more I have softened towards them. A business to be sure, but they don't seem to be one that is only interested in their customer's wallet. The vibe I'm getting from them is that they want to be part of the riding community and not just suck money from motorcyclists. I can get behind that. As much as I like to work on my bikes, I think some of that work may get diverted. If they are with us, I have no problem helping them stay in business. That's what community is about.
BTW, was that your RS at the last WSBMWR meeting?
