#Neptune, best to change your oil at the maximum every 3,000 miles or every year if you ride less than that each year. Don't leave old oil in your bike if you're going to have a long layover period like we do here in the Northeast US. As far as valve clearance check/adjust you can do it yourself. I'm not sure where you get the shim kit but either @Boxflyer or @machinrjoe should be able to direct you. If you can't locate them on this site look for them at the BMWST website at bmwsporttouring.com
