Here is the type of thing I need to get past: I got gas for the first time yesterday, I was able to reset Trip 1 even though it took 2 or 3 or 4 steps. But then I thought, how about resetting Trip 2? I tried that, I couldn't find it, I looked in the manual when I got home, still couldn't find it! I must have tunnel vision!
Probably not ... it probably has been relegated to the realm of the obscure.
I am into photography (or at least used to me) and one of the things that you find with the current consumer grade cameras is a reduction in the number of direct function buttons and controls, for the simpler and cheaper menu-driven BS scheme where you are wasting time digging through menus just so you can make a simple change that used to be done with the press of a button or the twist of a knob. Needless to say, most of the people who use such cameras are no menu-experts (let along photography experts) whereas the pro-level cameras still have all the buttons and knobs to useful quick access. It all comes down to money since the menu-driven system is cheaper.
Motorcycle design is no different. The trick is to get the right balance of useful direct access buttons and keep the menu-only changes for least used functions.
I like that on our pre-TFT RSs, you just need to go to the function that needs to be reset and long press the button on the left grip and it resets. Done.
