Pictures show the RS and R still have Brembo brakes.

At a local dealer on Saturday they mentioned all the wear parts in the front brake calipers were Brembo parts and only the casting was different. Just repeating what I was told. I thought the front calipers on both GS bikes and the RT looked cheap compared to the rear Brembo caliper.

The GS 1200 v. GS1250 video indicates there is almost a 10 foot difference in the stopping performance between the two bikes with the 1200 coming up with the shorter stopping distance. When dynoing both bikes they did mention the 1200 had 3,00 miles on it while the 1250 only had 750 miles on it. Maybe the 1200's brakes were more thoroughly bedded in than the 1250's or maybe their one and only braking test was not a good test example. Either way it appears the 1250 will be quicker to speed than the 1200 and as such I would at least want comparable braking. Below testing seems to indicate the performance between years should be comparable.
The competition was not what I would call sport touring bikes except for the FJR1300 which was the fastest and quickest of all the bikes tested but was in 7th place in braking.

2019 Michigan Police Motorcycle Test BMW R1250RTP 1st place 130.7 feet from 60 mph. A GS850P was in second place with 134 feet from 60.
2018 Michigan Police Motorcycle Test BMW R1200RT 1st place 130.4 feet from 60 mph.
