It is sad that they are going to these lengths to stop people from fully enjoying their motorcycles by working on them in addition to riding them. I guess we have to rely solely on Haynes manuals, which for my capability and daring, suits me just fine. Funny thing is, I have a DVD sitting 3 feet from me which I have never used in the 6 years I have owned this bike.
I'm just the opposite, I never use the Haynes manual.
I looked through it a few times and thought it was poorly organized. The pictures were not in the correct place to match a procedure.
The DVD works ok for me. I print the sections I think I need and use those in the garage.
I like that you can update the DVD if BMW makes any changes.
When we get the new 1250s I can probably use the 1200 DVD for some of the work.
For body panels and fastener I can use a parts fiche.
If the 1250 DVD never goes on sale again I guess I'll have to deal with a Haynes manual.
I wonder how Haynes will get there procedures and torque values with any info from BMW.
If I spot a used R1250RS/R DVD for sale I'm going to buy it.
