I'm thinking Board Computer will be like Trip One on the R1200 and Trip Computer will be like Trip 2 on the R1200.
Will that work?
In the past I used the GPS to reset values at gas stops but this does not seem to work well with the TFT.
I think you'll have to adjust your thinking.
The 1200 had 3 trip meters: 1, 2, auto. Auto reset everyday.
The 1250 has only 2 trip meters:1 (on board) and 2 (trip). It's easier for me to remember 1 & 2 than to remember "board" and "trip". 1 you reset manually, 2 resets automatically every day (default, but can be changed).
You can't use the GPS to reset values at gas stops, you'll have to use the left handlebar function button and wonder wheel.
Like you are considering, I reset Trip 1 when I fill with gas. The TFT, function button, wonder wheel has to be used. You can reset all values on this screen with one press of the wheel, or you can reset only individual values one by one. I reset this entire screen every time I get gas. I like it, it works well, with the TFT you have how many miles since refilling, plus, how much time riding and not riding since refilling, When you are on the bike all day, this is convenient.
The default for Trip 2 is to auto reset every day, you can change the default so you manually reset it, and then you could use this for the entire trip. But I am going to suggest that you don't do that, leave it in default mode and let it reset every morning. One of the values on this screen is what time you got started that morning, I find that helpful. I also find helpful to have total miles for the day, total riding time for the day, and total break time for the day, and avg mpg and mph for the day. I usually take a picture of this screen at the motel at the end of the day.
I would suggest that for your overall trip, that you use the GPS Trip Computer with Trip A and Trip B. Reset this when you begin your trip and forget it until you get back home.
Summary: use the TFT for everyday and the GPS for total trip.
Thanks.
A little different then what I was thinking of doing but I'll give it a try to see how I like it.
I do not use Trip A and B on the GPS so it will take awhile to train myself to reset it each trip

Debbie does not reset her stuff at gas stops so I can look at her bike for the trip total.
As for all the break times and average speed I never look at that info and wish we had the option to remove those and decide what info is shown to reduce clutter.
I do look at avg MPG at fill ups and at end of trips. It lets me know everything is running correctly with the engine.
I also compare total MPG between both bikes at end of trips. Debbie usually gets one or two MPG less than me.
While I'm thinking of it I'll go out to the garage and change Trip Computer back to Auto.
24F now. This afternoon is supposed to be sunny and 45. I'll get out this afternoon for more break-in miles.
Thanks again for the help.
