WTB OEM windscreen or similar
#1
I am looking to replace my OEM dark tinted windscreen, Part number 46638394312 after damage to the original item.  I am uncertain if the original items were different sizes but mine is 480mm high and 420mm wide.
If you have upgraded and have one lying around please let me know with asking price and will also require shipping to Melbourne, Australia
Thanks.

Just to clarify, you are looking to replace the dark tinted screen you had with a clear standard RS windscreen?

Welcome to the site. Your part number is for a clear R1250RS shield.
BMW only had one size shield for the R1200RS and R1250RS.
A R1200RS shield will fit a R1250RS but there's a very slight difference in the width at the bottom of the shield.
The difference is not noticeable.
My wife has a BMW dark tint R1250RS shield on her R1250RS and I have a BMW R1200RS dark tint shield on my R1250RS.
It's been a long time since the dark tint shield has been available in the US but it's available in other countries.
Good luck with your search.

The red line shows where the R1200 shield is wider than the R1250 shield.

Lee - He could also do like you did ... spray the inside of a stock clear shield. Smile

Yes that works good.
I was thinking his shield was broken but a clear shield would be cheaper and easier to find.
Skasey, here is a shield I painted after it was scratched.
I painted the inside surface with matte black and left the little top lip clear. The shield looked gloss when viewed from the front.

Hi Lee, thanks for the new information and photos.  It now makes sense why the aftermarket offerings can span so many models.
I had been hoping to find a forum member that had gone to an aftermarket screen that had the original lying on a shelf.  as you can see in the attached photo my existing screen is probably beyond repair or painting.

I lucked out and was able to find a almost new OEM tinted shield at a good price.

you might want to look at Puig products. They have a a dark screen for the RS but it might not meet your dimension requirements. I have a Puig racing screen on my 16 R1200RS that is dark, but it appears this is not available. here is their website: https://puigusa.com/en/bikes/bmw/r1250rs/2024?q=

Thanks Oldrider51, if no luck here I will probably go for Puig or ZTechnik products that look pretty good.  I like the look of the Puig racing screen but not sure if it offers enough protection for touring.

On the Puig site I only see the Touring and Touring Plus screens.

Lee, you are correct. The screen indicated as Touring has the same dimensions as the screen I have, which when I purchased mine was labeled as Racing. I think that Puig has changed the name as I found no mention of a racing windscreen in my search.

For Skasey's statement as to protection I have found this screen to provide the wind protection I want. I get no buffeting with it and rain protection is pretty good. On my bike and I assume your 1250 the screen can be moved upward to provide more protection. I hardly ever move mine to the higher position. Also, I have put in long days with it like this, over 500 miles, and for me it was not tiring.

Yes, both the 1200RS and 1250RS the shield can be raised or lowered. It can also be mounted in 2 different positions.
I have mine mounted using the lower holes and the shield in the low position. This gives me clean air.
Debbie also prefers her shield in the lowest possible position.
