Having now twice pulled out the drive shaft on my 2017 RS, I'm having difficulty. The rubber boots on both ends of the swing arm have a plastic ring inside the boot where it mates with the swing arm. I know one of mine is cracked/split (the rear one). But I can't get either one to mate properly and secure the boot to the swing arm. Anyone else have this issue?
I just looked up the parts fiche and see that the plastic part isn't shown Maybe it comes with the rubber? Anybody able to provide info?

Never noticed that plastic ring, so most definitely it will come as part of the boot.
Since it is hidden might be an idea to glue it back together using epoxy glue, if the break is not too great.

My understanding of what he said it is the boot at either end of the swing arm, parts 5 & 7.

Same for me.
I was not sure if he means the plastic ring is built into the rubber or a separate part.

The boots (item 5&7) have a plastic fitting inside that snaps into the swing arm trapping the rubber between metal and the plastic (kind of like a reverse snap ring). I really don't see how one could pull the drive shaft out without seeing this part. But in any case, I have not been able to get the thing to work and the boots are not secure to the swing arm on either end.

It's been too long since I've done it.
All I can remember are the tabs that snap in.
Fuzzy memory

Me too. I guess I never examined the boot (rear only, never took the front off) closely enough. I wonder why it would have broken though ... it doesn't see any load. Weird.

I will definitely look for the ring next time I service. From selective memory (what I like to call it) I had a bit of a time fitting it correctly so I should take a look for water ingress. Good heads up.
