Recently upgraded to a Nav VI, from the Nav IV I had been using (Thanks GG!). Visibilty is a huge improvement. Integration to the WW is very nice,
My question is: For those of you with a VI, how are you taking advantage of the extra features in a practical way, such as on trips, around town, etc.

You are welcome. We had the same upgrade path.

For me, I hardly use the extra features (aside from GPS) other than the music player, phone integration and, for long trips, putting the entire multi-day trip into the unit. Oh and yes, I do download the tracks from the log in the unit. Provides a quite nice summary of the day's ride. See example attached. I might use other features from time to time but they are so infrequent that I don't remember presently.

Wow! That's a ton of reference points. The overall route graph and history (on the map) is nice. How are the Index/Leg info created?

At every Index-numbered event a latitude/longitude reading is taken from the satellite of the location of the GPS unit on a known map grid, so elevation is known. Then at the next reading, when another location is known, the distance between the two locations is known in 3-space. The time between the readings is the denominator in the speed calculation, and all the data is then known and recorded in the GPS's storage.
