If I remember correctly 50 years ago today was my last day attending classes at the U of MN during my senior year. I remember being in or near the student union on the St. Paul campus and hearing about and then seeing the story about the national guard killing 4 students and injuring several others at Kent State during a protest that was occurring as we were ramping up our involvement in the Vietnam War. I remember the following 3 - 4 weeks going to work full-time at the Rosemont, MN Ag Research farm but never attending classes again. My diploma arrived in the mail as I did not attend graduation day. Not certain there was even a formal graduation event.

Certainly a lot of turmoil and disturbances are being repeated. I too never attended my University graduation as I was busy at work already. I had got my first job as an engineer months before graduation on the condition that I did not flunk.

This thread reminded me to call my brother in Yuma.
He went overseas in 1971 and was in Vietnam and Thailand 72 and 73.
They were setting up a new base in the Thiland jungle. He was telling me they were not allowed to shower the first two weeks because there was not enough water. He said if it started to rain while working on a F4 he would stop what he was doing, strip and wash off the best he could.
