Had my last expensive oil change done
#1
With my bike's 36 month / 36,000 mile US warranty coming to an end soon (2 months) and the wrench icon coming on in the dash, I decided to take the bike in to the dealership for an oil change and a thorough going-over.

The bike has 31,200 miles on it now and all seems fine with no equipment changes aside for the 2016 accident (knock on wood) aside from fork seals on the left front, due to some oil sweating on both sides maybe 2 years ago. Since then no worries from either side. Weird.

Anyway, the technician looked over it thoroughly and took it on a decent test ride and found no issues. I had reminded him to check for all the latest firmware updates which he said that he did. I tacked on a 16oz tub of Bel Ray waterproof grease ($16.95) and a bottle of DOT 4 BMW brake fluid ($4.95) and the total bill was $183 including 1/2 hour labour. A bit high but I am paying for face time as well. Of course all my oil changes will continue to be done my me for under $60, as well as anything else that it not too complicated.

The brake fluid is so I can do a complete change of all my fluid once the weather (and my garage!) cools down. I already have my vacuum bleeder kit. Brake pads are coming Tuesday and I will change those sometime in the Fall as well.
