Looks like this would be a nice bike.
Not crazy about the shapes of the bags and the windshield is too tall.
Rear wheel HP is similar to the R1200 but torque is less.
485 pounds. .

The Tracer is a brilliant bike IMO, but unfortunately not sold in the US market. Available in Europe for years, which is where I saw them. It would be a great competitor for the Kawasaki Versys.

Looks like they might be bringing it finally. Thanks. Like Doubting Thomas, I will have to go see it in the flesh when it arrives.

I have never seen a Tracer in a local Yamaha dealership. The place where I bought my RS is one of the largest, if not the largest, multi-line dealerships in Houston and they have never stocked this model. Moreover I have never seen it on the road here. They do have all the Yamahas including the Super Tenere and the MT10/09/07 and the FJ1300 but no Tracer 900 models. In the same area of the shop they have the Kawasakis including both sizes of Versys. So it’s not like they are not “aware” of the Tracer.
Like I said, I’ll believe it when I see it.

The Tracer and FJ-09 were the same bike. I had an FJ-09. Excellent bike except I couldn't deal with the chain.

I did a search for dealer inventory of the Tracer GT and for 2019s all 4 are up north as far as Alaska. Thinking that they must be only sold up north I checked for 2020 inventory and found 5 with the closest being 26 miles away.
So I stand corrected, but I am yet to see one on the road. Not unlike the RS.
I do recall the FJ-09 as being offered in the US and even saw a couple at my dealership, but the Tracer name must have been relatively recent, and the version with the bags (called the GT) I have yet to see.
I have always been keeping my eye out for this type of bike since it was what I wanted since before getting the RS when I initially wanted a Versys 1000 and then switched focus to the S1000XR. I discounted the Versys due to lack of cruise control, and the XR because of vibration. Then I saw the Tracer GT overseas and was very interested but could find none here to check out. Hence my disbelief that it was offered here.
BTW, the new 2021 Versys 1000 SE LT+ appears to be BMW class and is priced to match.

Out of curiosity I did a search for my area code for a 2020 Tracer and found five within a 100 mile radius.
Didn't know we had five Yamaha dealers in that radius

Hehehe ... when I did my search the 2020s I came up with were smaller dealers outside of Houston but not too far away. Never heard about them either but then I was not looking.

I rode my friend's Tracer 900 and thought it was a great bike. Very different animal than the RS. We compared notes on our bikes and agreed they were both amazing but with almost nothing in common.

Being dissimilar is a good thing for me. My two are as similar as cheese and chalk.

I had a 2019 Tracer GT for a year, I traded it in on my 2019 S1000XR. I got a more powerful engine and more electronics on the XR. This new version of the Tracer seems to catch up on the electronics, they claim the engine was fully revised, the one I had was a bit low on low RPM grunt, and a bit high on engine vibrations.
I think it is an excellent bike at an excellent price. But the appearance of those saddle bags is just plain weird.
Mine had a few oddities: the cruise control didn't work in 3rd gear; the quick shifter was up only, not down (the new one fixes this); they have a thumb wheel similar to the BMW wonder wheel, but it was placed on the right bar cluster making it unusable when holding onto the throttle.

That would drive me nuts. I had a similar issue with an Aprilia Caponord which I test rode back in 2015 and which had the cruise control on the right side. Not easy to set especially if you have shorter fingers as I do.
