The first set on the bike were Michelin Road 6 than lasted about 10000, then the first set on the Metzeler Roadtecs lasted above 9000 and were not worn out but the rear was flat in the middle. The Metzelers have given good mileage and have performed well in both wet and dry for me. Does any one else run Metzelers?
Saw some Roadtec 02s on a recent trip. The rider was swearing by and not at them. The tread change looks a little more mainstream if not Dunlopesque. A big problem for some on the 01s was front wheel cupping (though it didn't bother me). Looks like the new Metzlers won't have that problem.

These look "nicer" than the 01s to me. With all that rubber on the road they should be an excellent dry road performer. Good looking tire.

Sport tires on an Oxcart?
Actually - pretty jealous.
Last time I enjoyed doing the sport tire thing was a few tire generations ago on a K100 RS with upgraded suspension, slightly smaller front wheel and tire. First Metzlers and then Pirellis after the buyout.
Now, only rarely do I get the sport touring tires to their limit. And, they last more than 3000 miles.
And just got back from the NW, so understand the enthusiasm.
Two trips ago, found one of my favorite days on Keeney Forks Rd on the way from the Burnt River Market in Unity to Pendleton.
Have fun.

Having run Roadtec 01s on my FJR, the first tyre renewal on my 1250RS has been to 02s. Grip in the dry is superb, but I've not had the chance to see if their grip in the wet matches the 01s (which was very impressive). Several weeks in July through the Alps and Dolomites should answer any remaining questions!
