Windscreen options

Does anyone have experience with installing a smaller screen for non-touring rides? More like an R model. I may want to try out an R model and compare the air flow and noise level this Spring. Wind hitting my chest would be more favorable than hitting the helmet! Thanks!

I have a Cee Bailey sport screen it's about 2'' shorter than stock, I get a smooth quiet stream of air, unfortunately they no longer sell motorcycle accessory. I would make a bracket
that would mount to the bike and the other end 1-2'' lower to your screen in 1'' increments then order the Aeroflow screen that right for you.  https://aeroflowscreens.com/r1200rs/

Ever since I rode a naked bike (Aprilia Tuono) even at speed, I became a firm believer in tiny / no windscreens for non-touring usage. There is simply no comparison. The air is smooth, quieter and there is no buffeting. Even at 80 mph you can hear music in the headset much better and there is no neck fatigue by the pressure differential between the torso and head as is the case with a larger but non-barn-door wiindscreen.

The downside of the tiny / no windscreen is in protection and also wind-induced fatigue, both of which overcome the benefits of smoother air flow when riding for periods longer than say an hour or two.

Two questions for the price of one:

1.  Has anyone tried BOTH the Puig Touring AND Touring Plus and can offer some comment on how each worked?  Please don't answer if you've only tried one of them as that doesn't give any comparison.

2.  Has anyone tried the VXC version of the MRA? That's the one with the big sliding blade, supported on three points? It will probably look a bit, um, agricultural, but if it works...

Agree 100% with Grumpy Goat re smaller screen and for short distances I'm using the WRS and love it.  Less thrilled for any time on the slab, which I avoid as much as possible, but sometimes there's no choice especially if you want to make a serious distance.

Yes, I have both screens. The touring plus is the best screen I have found to remove buffeting or a stream of air right into my face. Set on lower holes, lower position. When raised it is even better but becomes a bit like a barn door. 

I also have the smaller touring screen which is similar to the OE part, but doesn’t have the lip and its profile is more upright I.e. it’s not curved towards you. In the lower holes lower position my head is in clean airflow. 

Both decent screens.

If you don't mind, how tall are you, inseam and which seat do you have? (also please provide Social Security number, and the 4 digits on the back of the card...

I'm 5-10, 32 and using Seth Laam seat which is a little bit taller than stock but I don't know by how much.

Likewise 5’10” and 32”. Standard seat. I do have a spoiler on the large screen in the down position.

I'm really happy with the WRS and want something just for longer trips - fours screws is an easy switchover.
