Saw a helpful tip on the MOA forum.
On your phone use Google Maps and use the voice command to enter a location or business.
Tap the business name and then select Share.
In Share select Garmin Smartphone Link.
Tap Send and the location is sent to the Navigator or Garmin.
This is much faster than entering the location by hand into the GPS.
You can do a similar procedure in Smartphone Link by using Find Nearby Places but it only seems to work for locations within a 50 mile radius of you.
I have this feature on my Chevy and always figured there had to be a way to make it work with Garmin.
Garmin Smartphone Link is a free app from Garmin. I use it mainly to see live weather radar
on my GPS.
Now if I can only figure out how to shut off the weather alerts and false traffic alerts.

I have an iPhone XR and don't see my Garmin Smart Link as a target for sharing. I even went and started the bike, ensured that Smart Link was active (got the weather through the phone, on the Nav VI) and then tried sharing, but there was no Smart Link to select from. Maybe this is an Android functionality.

One of the guys with a i phone was not able to see Smart Link as a Share option.
He's trying to figure out how to add Smart Link to his Share list.
I use Android.
When people try this the GPS does not need to be on, unless you want to send the location.
If it's like my car you can send the location the night before and when you start the Nav the next day you'll see the option to add the location.

Wayne try this
How Do I Add Apps to the Share Menu
Tap the share icon.
Swipe over the app icons to the left.
Tap the three dots above the word More.
Select the app of your choice. Depending on the app, you may need to add contacts or other choices before you send, post, or publish.

I used to use Android and thumbed my nose at iPhones. Then the company decided to focus more on iPhones for Company apps and since it seemed to be more popular even with automotive and bike makers, i decided to switch when it became time to upgrade. In retrospect that was a dumb move, especially since the cameras are so delicate. Now that I also have an Apple Watch (which i do like) seems that I may be stuck with the iPhone, but I am an Android man.

I didn't think so but I wanted to mention that use case in case it was the case. Put it this way, if it doesn't work with everything on and connected (best case scenario) then it is a non-starter.

This morning when I press Send in the app I get a error message
The message disappears before I can read it.

In the past the Send to GPS function has worked but only for something local.
50 mile radius seems to be the limit for me.
