Question for all. I have a 2019 RS with the chrome muffler. As I did the rear end service last year I noticed that I could not get the rear wheel out of the way without moving the muffler. Just wondering if anyone has run into the same problem and came up with a solution or do I have just to suffer. Thanks.

I always removed the muffler. It is not a problem or difficult. Actually the wheel can be removed without taking the muffler completely off. Just disconnect from the hanger and loosen the pipe connection and rotate and bend away from the wheel and the wheel will be able to be removed.

Page 130 of the manual for my 2016 R1200RS says Step 1 of the Rear Wheel Removal is swivel the the muffler (see Page 131)...........
I knocked, but the door was open.......

I always removed the muffler. It is not a problem or difficult. Actually the wheel can be removed without taking the muffler completely off. Just disconnect from the hanger and loosen the pipe connection and rotate and bend away from the wheel and the wheel will be able to be removed. Yes, with the stock muffler it must be swiveled out of the way. With the aftermarket can I have I can remove the rear wheel without doing anything with the muffler.

After removing the hanger bolt and loosening the muffler clamp I can remove the muffler in the same time it takes to rotate it.
With the muffler out of the way I get a clear shot at the wheel bolts.

Can off every time. Only 2 screws so only 2 minutes.

I also use one of those.
The newer big hole final drives don't have much of a lip to hold the wheel like the older final drives.

I made two. While on the lathe to cut off the heads, I used a file to make the ends bullet shaped to ease wheel fitment. Older rear drives had enough of a lip to position the wheel on installation. I can't see why these rear ends don't have that as well.

I didn't get that fancy, I just beveled the one end I touch with my fingers
I put a rubber cap over the threads of the one I carry on trips.
I don't remember the bolt and thread size. I took a wheel bolt to the hardware store to make sure I got the right size.
