Was about to send my 13 year-old Roadcrafter in to be refurbished, even had printed out a reburbishment form to fill out before I decided to check BMW MOA's marketplace. Guy was selling an almost brand new R3 in my size for $450 (he lives in TX, found it too hot to commute in and was never wearing it). That took all of 30 seconds of decision before I emailed him to buy it. Booyah.
Just need a balaclava and some electrics and I'm good. Oh yeah, and a freakin' bike would be nice to go with. C'mon, moving company...

Warm & Safe has the red heated jacket liner on sale.
I bought one last year and was also able to use a 20% off discount code from Adventure Rider.
These are nicer than the Gerbing liners we bought in 2003.

The Cooling Store had Gerbing heated jacket liners (ordered two sizes, will return the one that doesn't fit), external batteries, wireless controller, etc. An eBay seller had the Gerbing gloves I wanted in my size. Cycle Gear and Helimot for balaclava and boots. My BMW dealer had both the short and gauntleted gloves I wanted in stock, surprisingly.
It's fun buying all new gear!

At 6'4" I still went with Gerbing because of their tall sizes. Liner, Vanguard gloves, dual-controller and a wireless remote. Work flawlessly but I can see where liners like the Red (and that brings to mind the old Aerostich heated liners that included an inflatable liner cover) can provide a better fit for some body types. The majority of a liner's effeciency is related to how uniformly and closely it lies in relation to the body, much more so than raw BTU output.

Not sure what you mean. Our old Gerbing liners had a baggy look. The Warm and Safe stuff has a trim look and can be used as a after ride jacket and not look like motorcycle gear. I bought red because I like red. Debbie bought dark grey.
We did not buy jackets with external batteries because it's not unusual for Debbie to have the heat on all day. This is not unusual when we head to Texas in April or Arkansas in October.
