At 5'9" the screen on the 1300RS Performance was giving me a few buffeting, noise and turbulence issues around the bottom of the helmet. At this point going higher (touring style) or lower seemed a good idea to move the turbulence zone. I don't like looking through a screen when riding and use the std screen in the lowered position. So the hunt was on for a lower screen.
The Isotta Sport screen (95 Euros) was relatively inexpensive and one has now been fitted. The Isotta is 32 cm in height vs 34.5 for the std BMW Performance screen (I think other R1300RS models may be higher again) and at its widest point is 35 cm vs 31.3 for the BMW Performance screen. So wider and lower.
First ride impressions are a reduction in buffeting and noise using a Shoei GT-Air 2. The extra width doesn't seem to hurt either, maybe a little less pressure on the chest. Overall I'm happy with the change.
