The new R1250RS has some important updates for 2019. It comes with BMW Motorrad's new boxer engine and ShiftCam technology, and features some interesting changes in terms of design and comfort. We took it for a long and exciting ride in the Alps and learned more about its capabilities.
Well this one has been a long time coming! I last rode the R1200RS about 3 years ago, I loved the bike and so I was very interested to ride the new improved 2019 version with BMW's new "Shiftcam" technology and the brilliant TFT that BMW do. For some reason it has taken ages for BMW to make the RS available despite announcing it back in November, anyway it's here in dealers now, has it been worth the wait?

The BMW R1200RS greets 2016 like a petrol-powered phoenix rising from sport-touring ashes. Bridging the gap between sportbike performance and the long-range comforts of larger touring motorcycles, the R 1200 RS hits back at the naysayers of the sport-touring class, and it hits back hard. Too sport? Too touring? Too bad haters, it’s too busy carving up back roads and gobbling up miles to hear you anyway.
This is my review of the BMW R1200R which I was lucky enough to borrow for an extended period recently thanks to the kind folks at Bahnstormer in Maidenhead. The R1200RS is similar to the boxer powered naked R1200R but with an additional fairing to give a little more weather protection, together with a slightly sportier riding position - firmly placing this machine in the "Sport Touring" category...but how does it compare to the similarly powered BMW RT and GS??
The Winner. The 2016 BMW R1200RS is a fantastic motorcycle that solves the problem between the naked R1200R and the touring R1200RT.
2016 is a comeback year for BMW’s R 1200 RS sport tourer. It offers the distinctive, torquey boxer twin experience in a sporty, fairing-equipped package.
