Thread: Service Bulletin but not for the RS?
Post: RE: Service Bulletin but not for the RS?
I may be jumping the gun on this, but we may be seeing the beginnings of a driveshaft shortage in the US. A couple of friends with RT's are having to wait for new driveshafts to arrive. Good news is... |

Post: RE: Service Bulletin but not for the RS?
Two friends with 2016 RS's had their driveshafts replaced by BMW Motorcycles of Austin in the last few weeks. No problem.

Thread: Side (Kick) Stand Pivot Lube
Post: RE: Side (Kick) Stand Pivot Lube
Heavy grease is great but would require disassembly of the pivot.
If you don't want to do that, just give it a shot of some WD40 while you work it up and down.
The side stand on my R11S was getting ... |

Thread: Front fork stanchion question

I see no reason why this couldn't be done.
How many miles/km on the bike? Are the seals leaking? If there is movement between the outer stanchion and the inner tube I would suppose the seals woul... |

Post: RE: Service Bulletin but not for the RS?
My '23, build date 12/22 came with the duckbill from the factory as far as I can tell. Doesn't seem to be that easy to dislodge without a little effort. Something to be aware of when washing.

Besides "black and round", I would think cost and availability drives BMW's choice of rubber.

Quite a while ago I saw a video of this thing firing up at a bike meet somewhere. Can't remember what it sounded like but I would guess a mass of 2 strokes. How do you tell if you have fouled out cy... |

Thread: Oil Head reliability
Post: RE: Oil Head reliability
The problem with them is that even the newest oilheads are 20+ years old now. Totally dependent on the previous owners maintenance or lack thereof. Wiring and rubber parts deteriorate. I have had a... |

I also drilled three 1/4 inch holes vertically on the right side in what is left of the neck and can fill it to the brim. Adds around 1/2 gallon of useable fuel. I also never fill the tank and park ... |

Thread: Headlight cracks
Post: RE: Headlight cracks
A friend with a 2016 model with over 100,000 miles has what I consider "crazing" on both headlight lenses. Not as bad as what you have shown. I believe there is no fix except replacement. The front... |

As a little insurance, you might squirt a shot of good penetrating oil on the studs and nuts and let it sit there for a day or so. It's been quite a while since I removed exhaust from any of my bikes... |
