I think you'll love your 1250RS.  I also had an FJR, mine was 2008 model, no cruise control. :( This bike is just the right size and with all the electronic goodies.

Your comments were about "mechanical" things: engine, weight, size, etc. I give a lot of importance to modern electronics: cruise control, electronic suspension, heated grips, quick shifter, etc....
