Headlight adjustment

Hello forum, I picked up a 2026R 1300 RS about three months ago. I’ve been riding it in the day so far and had my first night ride down from the mountains a couple of nights ago and I noticed that the low beam projection was only about 25 feet in front of the bike and not really useful. I had to switch on the highbeams a lot to see in front of me. I searched the web on how to adjust the light but did not find anything other than for the GS version. Has anybody adjusted the angle of their low beam? I thought since I had the pro headlight it was automatically adjusting, but those only activate the sidelights when turning… Thanks in advance for any replies

First thought - I agree entirely with @motorhead1977. Let the pros take a look, sort it out, and provide some ideas, if you and they are not happy with the result.

With both the R1200RS (halogen) and R1250RS (LED), I simply added range and a little better view of road "texture" by installing Clearwater Darlas down low and aiming along the road. Even with the headlight in the factory position, accelerating out of turns would on occasion blind oncoming traffic (and sometimes result in horns and brights in return).

That said, I was curious, and found this in the R1300RS manual.

Thanks Ray, yes, I spoke to the dealer but these are so new they basically read from the manual like what you pasted. I’ll see what the pros say then revisit.

(Techs here have had a lot of experience with the R1300RS. I'll try to bring some doughnuts and check with them sometime next week, and see what they think.)

Thay have access to the shop manuals which have a lot more details than the user manuals. This based on the experience with the shop manual for my R1200RS compared with the User Manual that came with the bike. The shop manual will clearly tell the tech now to aim the headlights and if/how to tune the ESA to accommodate for various loads.

On a separate but related note, IIRC there is a small link in the rear suspension arrangement [on my bike] that tells the computer what the attitude (trim, to use a naval architecture term) of the bike is, and for a bike with active headlights, that could also be a factor in your experience.

After looking at the pages of the manual, I discovered a small knob near where the manual says to insert a torx driver and when I rotate the knob, the horizontal beam of the low beam goes up or down.

Mine does not have the blue knob.  Just the nut/bolt. Easy enough to adjust.  Here's what I have for adjustment for a 1250.
