2022 Officially "On Order"!
#1
Got the email from Peter @ Engle yesterday to let me know that allocation has been released and my RS is now in the queue. No one has a clue what this means in terms of delivery timing, but that's okay. Rotator cuff surgery recovery takes a while.

It'll be a long but entertaining winter!

I was down there on Tuesday for Debbie's 600 miles service and I heard him tell Becky your allocation was in.
Any word on the ESA situation?
Can't remember, did you order blue?

It will be built as ordered, including ESA, so that explains the uncertain date situation. Info seems to be coming a bit more quickly, however, as Peter didn't expect to hear about allocation and confirm the order until next week or later.

Yes, Imperial Blue Metallic and all the other Exclusive Pkg gizmos.

I don't think anyone involved would be surprised to see delivery drag into late April, but that's okay.

The build commenced yesterday, according to the shop, I have a VIN and it should be complete by 12/6. From there, it's getting on a boat, to the port and to KC. Maybe late January, way sooner than any of us thought!

Good deal.
Late January delivery is a good guess.

Build is done, and thanks to Lee's excellent post in my "Greetings..." thread, I was able to decode the container number that the shop supplied.
The ship is due to sail on/around Christmas Eve, with arrival in NY scheduled for 1/3/22.
Mid-February delivery seems more realistic.
In the meantime, it'll be fun to track it! Thanks, Lee.

What's the container number. I might follow the progress of the ship Big Grin
I don't need the VIN.

Well, as Lee knows, there's been a bit of a kerfuffle about the way the bike was built vs. the way it was ordered, and it's been thoroughly hashed out over on the ADV site, thanks to a heads up by a member who noted (correctly, as it turns out) that few (if any) bikes are being built with ESA right now due to the summer floods/chip shortage that we all seem to know about it.

For some entertaining reading, including probably TOO much info on how messed up the BMW Configurator really is, see here:
https://advrider.com/f/threads/bmw-r1250...12/page-31

Bottom line, the bike about to ship will go to another buyer (TBD) and I'm waiting on another build, which will take place in early January, allegedly with ESA included.

Thanks to Lee for a nice PM exchange yesterday that talked me off the ledge!

I like ESA so I would have done the same.

That may be the first discussion I've participated in on the ADV forum.
I mainly go there for the Photo forum and fleamarket.

Pretty ironic that the day this all came to light and blew up "RS #1", my Wunderlich frame plug set showed up.

It's a sickness.

Yeah, I'm larger than the average bear to start with, and with the extra load of luggage from time to time, having that system is very important to me. Worth the wait, without a doubt (at least for me).

Latest intel is that RS #2 is set to be built the week of 1/17/22, so from there it's likely March before it hits the shop. Still no solid indication as to D-ESA availability, so we'll just have to wait and see what comes off the line. Patience is a virtue!

They have a 2022 R1250R on the floor now. Wonder if it has ESA?
It's a stock photo so I can't see if it has gold or silver forks.

I didn't see it, but wasn't looking for it. Will double-check after the Holidays.

It departs tomorrow and arrives in NY Jan 6th.

Mid January you should be able to visit the shop and drool over RS# 1.

Let's hope it happens that quickly! Heard a sad story about a guy waiting on an S1000RR (I think) for over 7 weeks from NYC port arrival and delivery to the shop in KC. I've never seen this blue paint in person, so that will be interesting, too. Some pics/lighting seem to move the shade toward black, which seems pretty cool if accurate.
Trying to focus on getting this shoulder rehabbed so I can be road-ready sooner rather than later.
