Nice review of the sublime R1250RT
#1
Definitely one of my favourite BMWs, and here is a good review from SA. (Click here for the link to the review in case you are viewing on your phone and the video thumbnail does not show).

One thing I like about this one is that they actually showed the bike without panniers - not many RT reviews do that. I am interested in that look since, should I buy one, this would be its typical configuration as a daily rider. Now what I would like to see is one without panniers and with its optional top box. Wink

Thanks for posting Wayne. Nice review of the RT model. This bike with a black seat would look just perfect sharing the garage with a Lupin 2016 R1200RS.[attachment=1465]

That is indeed a nice variation on the RT in the test video. Love the pinstripes.

The Option 719 RT with its Pearl White paint looks nice.
My car has Pearl White paint. I really like it but hope I never need a paint repair.
Engles had one when we were there a couple weeks ago but I forgot to give it a close look.

I like it without the panniers as well; really slims it down through the "hips"!

But I think the RS looks fantastic both with and without its luggage, probably more so than the RT.

The price of a RT is getting up there.
White is the cheapest color. A white RT with radio and top box is $27,750.

The Option 719 color kicks the price up to $29,750.

If you want to spend more you can buy a K1600GTL in the 719 color for $31,440 Smile

A Transcontinental in the 719 color is $32,465

Those prices make the RS seem like a bargain Big Grin

I have made an upward adjustment on the price of motorcycles, even before seeing these prices of $32k Lee posted above. But wow! $32K!

Three months ago I bought the Kawasaki ZH2 for $18k, I thought that was a premium motorcycle, not too different than my R1250RS or the S1000XR. But it is different! The new XR's on the showroom floor are $23K. The new Kawasaki Ninja ZH2 SE SX is $27k.

It's true that there are still a lot of motorcycles under $15k, but I am surprised at how many there are above $23k.

I think I am good for a while! I hope so, anyway.

I agree, Ron. I have been watching these motorcycle prices slowly rising to car levels and then some. Of course, with the supply chain problems now there is little to no new car inventory and the price of used cars is absurd. So, I suspect the same / similar is happening with motorcycles and that is pushing the prices way up.

Damn nice looking bike!
I will be jealous if I see one on the slab or the parking lot, not so much anywhere else.
Just too big and pricey for me.
Obviously I am cheap and short 8P.

Looks like the price of the R1250R is now about the same price as the RS.
When I build a R1250R and add
Style Sport
Premium package
ESA (ESA is not in the Premium package for the R)
Luggage rack
Bag mounts
Centerstand
The build price is $20,245

The build price for the RS is $20,215

I was thinking last summer the RS cost about $1,000 more than the R.

When we ordered our bikes last summer the build price was $20,140.

Commenting on costs of the RS vs the RT. Base model of both if compared is about $5000 difference.

Add keyed panniers, GPS, luggage rack and Clearwater lights to the RS all which come standard or additions close to on the RT you would add about $3000 all installed on the RS.

If I remember correctly the only things you get for the estimated added $2000 on the RT would be adjustable windshield, heated seats, adaptive headlights, headlight PRO, adaptive cruise control, central locking system, dynamic engine brake control, anti theft alarm, brake light USA, the no cost option of a high seat and ability to add the radio package with XM.

Weight listed difference is 80 lbs but add the luggage rack, panniers and 2 less gallons of fuel on the RS the weight difference comes down to 40 lbs so close.

So for some maybe a toss up price wise.

I didn't know that the two models were that close but the RT is wider, longer and heavier. Not as significant as I thought but not enough to make a move. Still the RT is pretty.

That RT had all three of the 719 packages. Except for the wheels I like the look of the black 719 pieces better than the grey.
I like both the black and grey 719 wheels. You rarely see grey 719 wheels.
I don't like brown seats.

I wonder how hard the 719 front engine cover is to clean after riding in a rain?
