I resized the photos so that we can now see the bars in the profile shot. Looks good.

Thanks for doing that GG. I tried sizing them down but guess it wasn't enough. I'll go one downsize smaller next time.

Just my (short) story about engine protection. Put a set of X-Heads on; TWO DAYS later my bike demonstrated to me just how precarious its side stand placement can be, and fell over while parked after I had walked away. I heard a noise, the realization of what that noise was hit me, I turned and found the bike on its side. Light scuffing to the X-Head (not even noticeable unless I point it out) and moderate scuffing on left BMW touring case. Fortunately in a location that people don't see unless I point it out -- $450 to replace the case lid (vs $550 to replace whole case) or about $150 to have the section sanded and repainted.
Lesson learned. The sidestand will always be a point of concern unless I shorten it.

Craig, I did just that. I bought another factory side stand and had it shortened by 3/4 of an inch and just like in Goldilocks and the 3 bears it's "just right". I'm very happy with it. Completely resolved the "too upright" stance of the factory side stand.

Did this happen with the second R1250RS you just got?

Some have replaced the stand with BMW part # 46 53 8 564 609, which is a shorter version for Asian markets. 46 53

Dealers in the US can no longer order that stand.

I found it at this retailer https://www.bike-parts-bmw.com/bmw-motor...6538564609 and they indicate international shipping.

It will be interesting to see if anyone can purchase from there.
Seems like even the Europe riders were not able to buy the short stand this last year or so.

My buddy and I were on a trip and he dropped his brand-new Tracer. Even though his bike was fitted with frame sliders, when it fell on its left side in a parking lot, it broke a turn signal, blew a fuse, and yes -- scraped an expensive engine cover. I feel every bike goes down eventually if owned and ridden long enough. It's just a matter of will you put protection on before or after it happens.
