Crazy colors in the Smokies
#1
I was able to take a few days off last week and finally get in my annual fall ride in the mountains of NC, VA, and WV. Turns out I beat the snow by only a few days, but was rewarded with some of the best color in years. Sunny 60 degree temps, crazy colors, beautiful roads with almost no traffic, and the awesome RS are about as good as it gets with motorcycle riding.

Always amazed how the color of the bike changes with the environment. Well done.

Looks like a lot of the maple leaves will be on the road before I get there late next week.... I'll try to run the route a little further south than planned.

Many thanks.

Nice fall ride. Great color in the Smokies. Really like the matching bags on your RS. How'd you get the paint matched? No one around here seems to be able to do it.

Wish I could tell you, but I bought them secondhand and didn't do the painting.  It is close, but not an exact match to the factory color.  That matte finish is super difficult to replicate.

That road is awesome, with buffalo close by to boot!

Thanks "TR". The grey finish on my factory bags has some blemishes on it (not my doing) so I'm looking to have them painted and thought I'd go for a matching look. Back to the planning stage I guess.

The problem with Austin Yellow is not the color, but the application.  Matte finishes are not easy, and matching the finish of factory matte paint is very difficult to do. Mine is a "five foot" match, so not too bad.
