Last February, I imported a '16 12RS from Arizona, to add to my '16 800GT. I have a "thang" for blue bikes. I prefer well kept used bikes to utilize someone else's cash to farkle it as I would have. I've upgraded to a medium Z-technik screen with Puig deflector, a Moto-mate high GPS mount and 3DAM adapter to elevate my Zumo, a Nelson-Rigg tail pack and OGIO/RAM mount tank bag. For the RS, I prefer the RAM mount over Givi's Tank Lock system for refueling. For touring, factory panniers and a Shad 45-59L expandable top case big enough to bring your elephant with you.
MOA and Lone Star BMW Riders club are current affiliations. A very active riding club, LSBMWR has been toughing out a long dry triple-digit summer.
I ride to explore. End of September, with my son (Aprilla 660RS), we plan to base in Matador, TX to tour Palo Pinto and Caprock Canyons (1958 "The Big Country"). For kicks, I seek out film locations for 50's and 60's westerns. Weekenders are retracing local portions and artifacts of the transcontinental Bankhead (east/west) Highway, and the Meridian (US81 Mexico/Canada) Highways.
Glad to join up with the like-minded to share knowledge and experiences. May we cross roads one day!
