6000 miles? Psah! I am hoping for 10k miles out of the rear ... I know I will get lots more out of the front.    

A picture is worth 1000 words. Just took this one for you. Of course, mileage depends on many factors including road surface, riding style, smoothness of the rider, etc., etc.

Wow.... That's a lot of tread after 7000 miles on a quarter ton bike...,

( though remember 90% of flats occur in the last 10% of tire life. I'd say that rear has about $20 of tire left.)

Well, I managed to destroy my rear pirelli scorpion rally str tires after 3,900 miles. The front starts off with 8.5 mm of tread, and would go awhile..., but the new rear sports only five and I am now down a little over one. Picking up a new set of shoes in Edmonton

Most of the wear occurred on gravel and dirt where I spent a fair amount of time spinning the rear wheel uphill and through corners. (Reminder - in gravel on the RS, turn off the traction control if you expect to make it up the hills or through the washboard.) (And remember to have fun as the answer to almost every problem that arises on gravel or potholed mud is "more throttle.")

Sounds like you were having a lot of fun fiving it a lot of throttle.

The mileage from the STRs sounds similar to what I have heard for those who used it offoad, and the thread on the rears are not the deepest out there. But for street and occasional off-road they should get a lot more than that. Offroad with a lot of throttle and TC off ... wellll ...

Any idea what you might get in Edmonton?
