How many miles on your 1200-1250?
#1
Not sure if this subject has already been discussed but I'm curious about total mileage we have on our bikes?  Maybe, also any major repair costs to go with it. So, I have 43,000kms and so far have had to replace an Oxygen sensor and soon to have my shaft drive and and gear box replaced.

I have just under 24,000 miles (38,000 km) on my 2020 1250 RS.  Fuel filler cap and drive shaft both replaced under warranty.  Otherwise just the 12,000 mile service (by #boxflyer) , oil changes and tires as expenses.
Be stubborn with your dream but flexible with your path. 20 R1250RS, 87 VFR400F Former bikes: 66 T120 Bonneville 650, 69 CB750, 73 CB350F, 83 VF750F, 84 VF1000F, 85 VF1000R, 07 VFR800, 10 GL1800, 16 Ducati Scrambler, 18 R1200RT.

My '16 RS now has just over 56K miles. Boxflyer checked/adjusted valves and reset adaptive values at around 44K. Recently the dealer replaced the driveshaft. The whole BMW ownership experience (my first) has been great, not to mention the personal connections made on this forum.

My '16 RS had 28+K miles when BMWNA bought it back because it went through 4 water pumps and still leaked.
My '17 RS had 51+K miles when I traded it because the throttle would intermittently quit working while riding.
My '23 now is approaching 17K miles with nary a problem. Driveshaft replaced at the 12K check.
I suppose third time is the charm.

2016 R1200RS 228,000+mi, Oxygen sensors, Clutch, Stator, Drive shafts, Brake pads, Micro switch at the clutch lever,  DME computer. Only one valved has needed adjustment. My tech did a compression check recently and reported that the compression was at the upper level of the range. I been very happy with the bike. As a bonus free drive shafts for life I see no need to change rides.

About 64k miles on my 2016 R1200RS. Had an accident in 2016 that caused a bunch of stuff to be replaced so that does not count.

Aside from the replacements due to the accident, normal maintenance, and the shaft under the BMW service bulletin aside, I have not had to replace any parts that failed. Had to go double check my videos on my YT channel just to make sure. Smile

Most reliable bike I have had thus far.  WAM_thumbsup This is it one month ago.

I had 50,000 miles when I traded my red frame 2017 for tiny tires.  Was a reliable bike, like all the BNWs I ever owned.  No drive shaft issues on mine.

Under 16,000 kms on mine.

Took something for a spin a few days back and look like moving the 1200RS along.

I put 50k miles on my 1200RS from 2016 to 2024, then 24k miles on my 2023 1250RS. Apart from a sticky left-hand switch cluster on the 1200 and a  throttle twistgrip with gritty action on the 1250, (both replaced under warranty) both bikes have been faultless. That could, of course, be asking for trouble now!!?

...well, that kinda says it all.

I blew out the proximal u-joint on the cardon  and fried my swing arm on my 2015 R1200 RS at 68,000 miles - 2 weeks before we got the letter that BMW would start paying for replacements. Prior to that, just a broken plastic bit that attaches the tail light (replaced by a metal screw). Prior to sale, a bad computer board - the source of siginificant parasitic drain on the battery - was identified and replaced by the dealership. Tractive suspension upgrade at ~35,000 miles.

2023 R1250 RS with no problems. New cardon at 27,000 miles after failed test.  (I note the new cardon's slightly beefier.) A noted in other posts - plenty of bumps, shakes, and vibration, but so far, nothing has shaken loose. (I'm knocking on wood, as we speak...,  קינעהאָרע and everything else.)  (Tractive suspension day 1 - life's too short for less that optimal suspension.)

(This time, I listened to Darrell and got the extended warranty.)

That's some pretty impressive mileage there. Did you have a simultaneous clutch & stator failure? Those are pretty major issues. Any comments you can add on what failed exactly and why?

TIA

Yes, the clutch showed signs of wear upon inspection while replacing the stator, my dealer had a used clutch that I bought for a few dollars.
The mileage was between 80,000-110,000 don't remember I was told that the early 1200WC motors had stator problems. The new and improved
stator was installed. Over ten years and 200,000+mi. I don't think the repairs have been to bad.
