GOAT: Just wanted to say thank you for the helpful videos you've posted over the past few years. I'll need to remove the front and rear wheels off my R1250RS to get new tires mounted. Your videos front and rear wheel removal and front and rear wheel installation will be very helpful. 

Still have a few miles left to go on my Metzler M9RRs, but I just want to be ready for the 2027 riding season. Damn - getting older. I used to go through 2 sets of tires per year. Now it's just one.

You are most welcome and thanks for the compliment / comment on the Channel. Yes, I make these videos also (primarily?) as a reminder for myself on how I did whatever it is. This is needed as one gets older and since one does not do it very often (not being a mechanic). For instance, I have a general idea of what to do for the topics you mentioned, but before I do it again I quickly watch my own video to refresh my memory. It is an efficient use of my time, and improves chances of success right off the bat. Many times in the narrative I am really speaking to myself ...   .

...and even reminds us to make sure we have all the tools we need before we start....

As previously noted - these "everyman" videos for the average rider are a welcome (if not humerous) change from the glib, 45 second videos by master mechanics.

Let me know if you need anything, I'm just over in Bothell. I've done the job and it's pretty straight forward. The front is like any other motorcycle, and the back is really easy. The muffler comes off (easy) and the wheel unbolts. That's pretty much it. But, I'm here if I can help.

Saread: Thank you very much for your offer of help! I've got this procedure pretty well down, however. Between GG's video and watching and helping my friend do tire changes on my RS and my previous BMW bikes, I know what to do. The only complication is getting both wheels off at the same time so I can take them up to my friend's. He has a great tire changer, but he no longer wants to run bikes up onto his lift. Something about a GS with a full tank of gas... 

I was concerned about having both wheels off at the same time. But now I think it'll go pretty easily after watching GG do it. I don't think I'll put the bike up on my Handy-Lift for this operation. That's OK - maybe I'll use my wife's yoga pad for my old knees on the garage floor!

I use a 3/4" board under the center stand for a little extra clearance (it makes getting the bike up on there a little bit harder, but doable). Then I use a floor jack under the engine to lift the front. There's not enough weight to hurt anything under there while I remove the front wheel. After I move the front wheel out, I'll put a pair of jack stands under the bottom of the forks and lower the bike onto them to get off of the jack. Oh, Home Depot sells a really cush knee mat for a few bucks I find pretty handy for this kind of thing.
