I’m a huge Nascar fan so Sunday afternoons we’d turn on the flat screen, watch the race while changing tires. Usually 3 hours to do 2 both tires. Each spring I ordered a pallet of 20 tires of various sizes riders used from a wholesaler who gave me an additional 10% discount when I bought a pallet of them. Some ordered their own and usually had them sent to my address. Yes frustrating on a nice day when I could be riding but I usually didn’t ride when a race was on so home anyway. Always good to spend some quality time with friends. In fact with this social distancing hope to enjoy again some day. Understood.
Every story an inspiration.
Thanks.

Out of curiosity are all the shops in your area open with business as usual?
I hear of shops being closed or access with a appointment only.

I brought my GSA in last Friday to local dealer for software update. I was actually shocked at the "business-as-usual" attitude they were showing.
The only thing they did differently was have everyone come in the service entrance instead of the front door. There was zero social distancing. Families were coming in and touching/feeling EVERYTHING.
I took a demo bike and left for the two hours the update took.

That was probably the safest thing to do.
Some people don't get the social distance thing.
A couple days ago I dropped off some masks that Debbie made for some friends that are in their mid 80s.
I did not put my mask on because I was leaving the masks in the door and planned to call them to say I dropped them off.
Before I got back to my car he saw me and came running out to visit and he kept getting too close

I take it that you mean motorcycle shops. As far as I know all are open.
Cycle Gear is open and my BMW dealership is not only open but no one there is wearing masks. They are just not shaking hands but as for social distancing, no difference than before. I would think that less prestigious (?) dealerships would at least have a similar pandemic response.

That was similar to the dealership I went to. They did close one of the entrances to the building so that customers had to come and leave through one door. But everything else was normal and I had to keep moving away from people to maintain the social distancing especially since no one was wearing masks but me.

Debbie is required to wear a mask at work.
The masks she makes is more comfortable than the ones provided but she said it no fun to wear one for 9 to 10 hours a day.

The few times I have been out of the house people seem to be practicing good social distance.
I live in the Chicago suburbs and currently we have just under 40,000 confirmed Covid cases. I am not exactly sure how the number of Illinios Covid cases compares to other states but I am sure we are among the worst in the country.
Given the number of cases here I wonder if people are just more aware of the situation outside of their homes and thus more concerned for their and others safety and health.

Iowa has 4,445 cases. Our county has one.
The Chicago area population is probably similar to all of Iowa population.
Here's the numbers for Iowa
4,445 confirmed cases
107 deaths
1,604 recovered
278 in the hospital
60 on ventilators
682 ventilators available
3,896 beds available
534 ICU beds available
Our worst area is Polk county (Des Moines) with 575 cases.

Given the number of cases here I wonder if people are just more aware of the situation outside of their homes and thus more concerned for their and others safety and health. Chicago's definitely a hot spot. A former career CDC employee told me O'Hare was left out in the cold by immigration services during the rapid influx of Americans from China and Italy - crowds were packed into the usual lines and somehow the official message to self quarantine for 14 days was never passed on. Conspiracy theorists believe that policy was intentionally ignored.
St. Louis University Hospital looks like it's peaked, though the math says that date should be around the 28th of April. Of course, we all expect repeated spikes as people take re-openings as all-clear signals.
In any event - if you need some fashionable masks, let me know, the wife's been sewing up a storm.
For the record, Gateway BMW closed early but is getting ready to carefully reopen.
Some of you might have met one of my colleagues and one of their better customers - Sharon Frey - a GSA rider (and classic car racer), who also happens to be one of the international experts on vaccine science and SARS-CoV-2, so our shop might look a little different than the ones in Texas....
Stay safe and "ride it out."
