This is a test to figure out how to post pictures here.
Today I rode to the Concours de'Cornfield. This is a yearly show for antique bikes held on the property of a old country church west of Earlham Iowa.
Looks like I will have to use img tags on this site.
Copy and Paste does not work.
Attachments don't work because I have to reduce the file size smaller than I do for other forums, plus I did not see a full size option for attachments.
Appears to be a three picture limit per post ???

Nice pics. Lee.
I will confess I don't know all the limitations of the software for posting pictures. I do know that adding them using the Attachment function has a limit of 2 MB but not aware that there was a number limit. That said, it does look like you were able to include 5 pics in one post so maybe if there is a limit it is not 3.
Yes, since the Attachments option requires disk space on my server there is the 2 MB limit, which is actually hugely large I might add. I did do a tutorial on how to reduce photo sizes for those who might not be aware of how to do this. Any photos for display on a website can be resized so that they are still large enough for display on any screen and have enough detail to see the sorts of details I know you like to inspect. Should be able to get by with under 500 kB per photo to achieve that.

Yep, perfect day. Started in the 50s and had a high of 75 with very little wind.

When I take pictures with the camera and phone the picture are in the 3MB to 5MB size.
I download those to my windows computer in one folder. For pictures I may post on the internet I created another folder and move the pictures I need to reduce there.
I use Paint to reduce theses pictures and the size usually end up in the 400kb to 600kb size.
Not sure I want to create a third folder for even smaller file sizes.
I'll do more testing.
These pictures from last week are smaller the 500. I'll see if I can post more than 3 and use the attachment option instead of img tags.
There is no option for full size, only thumbnail so I probably will not use that option in the future.
I used New Reply, why did it use Quote?
I'll try try img tags again and see if I can post more than 3 pictures.
Look like I can post more than 3 when using img tags.
Sorry about experimenting in this section but I could not find a sub forum for testing.
When I use New Reply at the bottom or top of the window it quotes.
I give up, how do I reply to a thread without quote?
Even quick reply quotes.

Lee,
I have good news and bad news.
Good news - I switched the inline display from thumbnail to full size - lets see how that works. I like the full size better ... as long as the picture size is not too big. If the posted pics are too big (I hate horizontal scrolling) I can make the thumbnail size bigger so that it is a decent size.
Bad news - there is (I don't believe) a way to reply without quoting. Frankly I prefer that to the other way around (replying without quotes) since it is often difficult to know who the reply is addressed to in some cases. The only way to get rid of the quotes is to click inside the text area, do a <Ctrl>-A then <Delete> and poof - clean slate.
Good to see you posting here.

Lee,
On second look ... I clicked "New Reply" top and bottom and the result was the same. This reply here - with no quotes. So for me there are 2 buttons to use ... one that gives the quoted stuff that one can erase, and the other which gives no quoted stuff to erase.
Don't know why the "New Reply" button is not working for you.

Then there is the "Quick Reply" box I am typing this in right now. That is even already open with no quotes.

I agree that the quote function is important and I almost always quote when it applies, but in most cases a simple reply is all that's needed.
Let's see what happens this time.
OK, New Reply worked that time.
Crap, now it's quoting again.
Lets try the full size attachment 1200x900 less than 500 kb.

The quick reply did not work before.
I'm typing in the Quick Reply box now.
You may not see me posting much here, the forum software does not work well for me.
I'll try some more at a latter date.

Wonder if anyone else is having these sporadic problems you are having …? I can't say I ever saw anything like what you are describing.

Test using New Reply at top of page
It appears if I try to make a New Reply in less than 5 or 10 minutes of the last post, my new reply is attached to the last post.

It's going to be a pain to wait 15 minutes between posts.
I have never seen a forum require a member to wait that long between posts.

Actually the way the post merge setting is set now (having just looked into it) is, if a poster makes a second post in the same thread within the default 60 minutes it will be merged. This can be changed ... what do you propose?
This is different from the post flood setting which is 60 seconds, i.e. you have to wait 60 seconds before posting again in a particular thread.

I would get rid of that option.
If that's not possible try setting it at 30 seconds or 60 seconds.

Yes I can disable it and see how that works. If not abused I'll leave it like that. Give me a few minutes.
