I posted in the R1200RS forum and I'll double up here.
A mishap last weekend broke my right mirror off and broke the fairing under it. All parts to repair are available except the "Upper trim panel" right side p/n 46638556728 (Lupin) or p/n 46638548072 (primer). My dealer says none available in the US or Germany. Anyone know of this part used (any color) but in good condition?
Can't imagine a part for a bike 2-3 years old is not available!

I think you used the wrong part number on the RS forum.
It does seem odd that even primer is not available.
I have the part with 3 little dings but after seeing none are available I better hang on it.

Frank - this is the right place to post for answers
1. Any chance of a picture to see the broken area of the fairing?
2. Where else did you check for the part? eBay has lots of parts. Also maybe a check of salvage BMW R1200RS or salvage BMW R1200RS parts may yield what you are looking for.

Hey Grumpy-
Thank you for the link. I have been really hesitant to use ebay (I'm a luddite) but I took the chance this time.
The mirror broke off and took the forward fairing support with it- that's the cast metal part that holds the forward fairing, instruments, mirrors, etc. That part is available in the US. There is a big hole in the upper trim panel and a good sized crack. It could be repaired but I want a good replacement part.
The bike should be back on the road before New Years.
In the meantime, I have pulled out my old trusty '85 K-bike. Aired up the tires, charged the battery and about three seconds of cranking, fired it up. It hadn't run since last January. My R1100S is just not a cold weather bike for me.

Thanks for the link, but I have already ordered a replacement part from here in the US. Also quite a bit cheaper.
BTW the bike didn't go down- a close encounter with a bicyclist- it could have been a lot worse for both of us.

Good for you. I am an experienced eBay user and I have had no problems with it over the years. Just have to be careful when you’re buying some thing that the person has a good reputation level, and there are lots of pictures that show clearly the condition of the item that you’re buying. I just sold my drone on eBay and I’m pleased with the price that I got. The buyer will be getting a very good drone kit.

I put the picture up so others would know for sure without looking at a parts fiche.
It's interesting his fairing piece cracked at the mirror mount. When Debbie's bike was knocked over the mirror mount broke and the fairing did not crack.

I hope the fairing parts will be available again next year.
Let's hope Covid caused the supply problem.

The bike didn't fall over. It was a close contact with a bicycle rider coming the other way. To avoid a head on, I steered to my left and we glanced off each other at low speed. You had to be there!
Anyway, the mirror was taken off completely with the mounting ear on the center fairing support bracket that attaches to the steering head and mounts the instruments, mirrors, forward fairing, etc. That's the grey metal part behind the instruments. Lee, the ear of the grey metal piece in your first picture with the three holes in it is gone. It was pulled out through the upper fairing resulting in the big hole and cracks. My right forward turn signal was also "removed". No other damage to my bike and I have a bruise on my right hand ring finger. It was that close!
All parts were available new in the US except for the fairing.
The parts from BMW should be here early next week and eBay tells me the fairing should be here tomorrow (Friday).
Considering what the worst outcome could have been, I feel pretty lucky overall.
I am also thinking it could very well be Covid related as I don't believe BMW would let their supplies of spare parts just dwindle to nothing on a 2-3 year old bike.

eBay and UPS came through. Package with a complete set of blue fairing parts was delivered yesterday. As advertised, used but not damaged. For a little more than for just the right upper I got a complete set. Since I have a couple of riding buddies with RS's they may come in handy. Now i need the center fairing support bracket, R/H mirror and turn signal to complete the bike. Those parts are listed as in the US so they should get here early next week- Christmas/Covid dependent.

An update since I last posted:
A month since ordering and the central fairing support finally showed up yesterday (12-14). I was originally told all parts were in country but the main piece had to come from Germany.
The bike is back together and everything is fine. Haven't ridden it yet, might get to do that later today or tomorrow and I don't expect to see anything out of the ordinary since I had to ride it 80-90 miles to get home after the "incident". Charged the battery and checked the tires and it's ready to go.
I didn't miss a whole lot of riding since the last month has been cold or wet or both.
One thing I did learn- the main fairings/headlights/center section can come off in one big piece after you get all the attaching parts off. And I like the way this bike is put together.
