Not really but sort of competition

Pretty good video review of the R1250RS posted last week by The Bike Show. Everything cited as a positive applies to the RS, and the two main negatives (looks and wind protection) are addressed by it.

Same reviewer rides the RS and... [drum roll] came away unimpressed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQEnfGCmFlY

He liked the R1250R better for ride quality, and the GS better for versatility, mentioned the S1000XR as a better pure sport-oriented tourer and the RT better for a straight tourer. He points to the more traditional sport tourer of old (of which he includes the RS) to have gone out of style.

I'm still of the opinion that sport-touring is what you do with the bike. As I intend to commute, tour, track, and ride like an insane bastard through backroads I feel the RS is really the only choice and this guy is full of shit. But then, that's just me.

I see that blue 2022 R1250RS gas the stainless Steel engine spoilers.
I don't think you get those with the blue color in the US.

If I had a 2nd bike I would like a R1250R for short trips in the mid-west.
Without a windshield you would have more sensation of speed with the low mid-west speed limits.
The quicker steering would be nice on the curvy roads of SW Wisconsin, NW Arkansas and SE Missouri.
