RS #1 was unloaded from the ship today in NY.

That's a good marker to note, with RS #2 coming in close behind. Will be interesting to see how long (from yesterday) before RS#1 arrives at the shop.

The ship for RS #1 took the long route. I noticed it stopped at France for Christmas and went to Norfolk before NY. I didn't pay attention how many days the ship was docked at France and Norfolk.
Our ship went straight from Germany to NY.
It would not surprise me RS #2 will ship faster than RS #1.

Wow, Lee, thanks for passing that along. Fascinating journey, huh? Well, I guess the French need their BMWs, too, not to mention the Americans in the DC area!
I'm pretty sure I'll get a Container (and maybe vessel) number and an estimated departure date this coming week.
Hopefully no more scenic routes in my future!

BMW bikes are only dropped off at NY. The ship probably had other product to drop off at Virginia.
The ship is France registered, so maybe they took a Christmas break since they were close to home.

RS #2 was built on 1/18, but it's still sitting at the plant, as far as anyone can tell. Our guy Peter says the word out of his BMW Corp is that they're having a hard time getting sea containers! Supply chains still not out of the woods.
Sticking with my delivery over/under of 3/15/22.

It was nice meeting you at Engles today.
Wayne, the shop did not have any Pro Winter gloves.

Great meeting you and Debbie as well! And congrats again on your 400K Award (and Debbie's 300K!)!

Debbie got her 300,000 two years ago but we brought it along to get a picture with Adam.
I had a head start on her. I had 65,000 BMW miles before she started to ride her own bike.
I was a struggle for the shop to get my award. They had to call and email BMW USA several times in the last 6 months to get it.

Ah, wasn't aware of the rest of the story where Debbie's award is concerned - good for her, 300K two years ago!
As to BMW's "responsiveness," I'm getting a taste of that myself. I'm thinking about their So Carolina Rider Instruction courses, specifically 2-day On-Road (Group) vs. 1-Day On-Road (private), and have a few questions about the latter. Can't get a call back to even discuss it...
Seems like when a company gets this big, they're just not geared for much one-on-one interaction time with individual consumers (either culturally or logistically), as evidenced by RS #1 and this Rider School Q&A.

I was wondering if a lot of employees are working from home now and the company doesn't have a organized setup for this.

It's hard to say. There's an online inquiry form you can fill out about the private lessons, but the link doesn't work, it just spins and spins after you hit "Submit." Typed all my queries out 3 times on 2 different computers to no avail.
On my two phone calls this week, I was promised by a very nice customer service rep that someone would reach out to me within "24 to 72 hours." Maybe they're home nursing Covid symptoms (hope not!).
Cooling my jets...

Progress! Peter@Engle got me a container number yesterday and this morning I have a ship (the "Ever Lasting," which seems like a good omen), a set-sail date of 2/8, an arrival in NYC estimate of 2/20/22 (reasonable transit time, according to my searches), and from there, we'll see how long it takes to get to KC.
Still liking my over/under of 3/15 delivery.

Looks like it's already slipped. Now estimating arrival in NYC on 2/27. 3/15 not looking good!

3/15 sounds right. After our ship docked the bikes were at the shop 2 weeks later.
Does the container tracking show if it has arrived at Bremerhaven?

Yep, the container full of bikes is in Bremerhaven, so it's now a matter of getting the boat loaded. It will be on the CMA CGM Tosca from there to NYC. In the meantime, RS #1 ought to be at the shop by now. Once there, I'll swing by and try out the Sport Seat, see the color (in person) and make VroomVroom noises, I guess.

If I'm reading it correctly, the ship is in Rotterdam? My tracking skills are still at newbie level.
