Better Horn
#1
Not sure if anyone else has done this but I installed a low frequency horn from a BMW K1600 (part number 61338555578) and it’s SO MUCH BETTER than the stock horn on my 2018 R1200RS. Totally plug and play, fits perfectly, but is a bit of work to actually get access to the horn. Seems about as loud as a horn needs to be… great mod.

I also saw where some people have used a BMW car horn.
It has the same connector as the bike connector.
I don't know which car it's from or the part number.

Is it possible to have both the low tone you mentioned and standard horns installed without a CANbus issue? My GL1800 had dual horns and they were awesome. Sounded like a 1970 Buick Electra. Impossible to ignore and I think it may have actually scared some people into not coming into my lane though I can't imagine how anyone didn't see my pearl hotrod yellow Goldwing.

That I don’t know, but the single, low frequency horn I installed is very loud on its own. Night and day compared to stock.

I bought the horn years ago and never installed it.

I added this horn 6 years ago when I received my 2016 R1200RS.

An alternative - I just checked the horn on my new 2022 RT that sounds like a truck horn vs a weak beep beep on the RS and it looks like it might be a simple plug in. Check before ordering if going this direction to be certain it fits.

Once my Cansmart is delivered and installed I will try the second horn I have kicking around.

I can't seem to find a part number for the 2022 1250RT. The only ones I can find on the BMW parts fiche shows 2 horns in tandem and it says they're only for vehicles with electronic siren. IDK. Got a part number for that 22 RT horn?

Well silly me. Today while playing with different light settings on the Clearwater lights I noticed 7” behind the front horn; which I could see looking down from the above the forks, is another horn mounted at the top of the telelever shock. These are not the type of horn Lee shows in his post.

Your post now makes me wonder if I have an electronic siren on the bike I’ve not found yet.

The parts fiche only shows a generic drawing instead of a actual photo. Some times the drawings do not look like the actual part.
I figured the RT had a trumpet horn instead of a disk type like the drawing.

The other day I found the radio mute button in the car. I've been looking for that ......about a year.

I found this drawing of high and low tone horns for 2020 to 2022 R1250RT.

Looks like the part number in my link is just the bracket.

I saw that drawing but the description says
" Description:
For vehicles with siren, electronic [X486A (-)] and sequential siren system, electronic [X493A (-)]."
So I figured that that part number(s) weren't for our bikes? Anyone got any input from a helpful dealer/repair shop?

I hooked up the Fiamm horn I had kicking around to the Denali CANsmart loom. OMG the dual horns are loud!
