Not holding my breath on that one! Red-headed stepchild syndrome, right?

Right Big Grin

I always thought it was strange BMW would give freebies with good selling bikes like the GS.

Seems like 100% of the Q1 Promo activity is behind one version of the R18 or another, which doesn't come as a surprise, I guess. And this from a guy who once owned a Valkyrie! How far we've come...

Well, sure as heck, DHL did snag the bike in Easton ("confirmed on board" on today (Wed) at 5:15am), with an arrival in KC on Monday. Five days doesn't sound like air freight, but who knows?

That would put the bike at the shop on Tues/Wed.

The DHL arrival time for our bikes was the day they would arrive at the shop.
Our bikes arrived at the KC airport on Thursday but did not arrive at the shop until Tuesday.
DHL showed arrival time at shop as Monday but the shop is closed Mondays.

Sometimes you need a secret de-coder ring! Got a call yesterday afternoon from Peter, wanting to know if I was interested in coming by as they uncrated the bike, which had just arrived. Was tied up at my part-time gig and had to pass, but will drop off "the box" of goodies and take care of a last-minute punch list of questions and doo-dads.

Just need to settle on a pick-up date, a bit tricky with more "wintry mix" in the forecast for the coming week.

It may be time to think about an "RS Newbie" thread.

Great idea. Go for it! Please consider structuring it to include perhaps the ordering experience / process, through taking delivery and ensuring that all options are checked off, and maybe ending off with initial impressions on the bike.

Same page, and maybe beyond that, with newbie questions (they always come up), mods evaluations (I'm making a few), accessorizing (I have a few) and such. Will noodle it!

Stopped in at my dealer today to ask about delivery times, they're saying 2 months, and all bikes have been delivered with all parts attached. We'll see.

Huh If all bikes have been delivered then why a 2 month wait? Are they praying over them or what?

This year some bikes were delivered with missing options like ESA, radios and adaptive cruise.
Sounds like bikes that arrived recently have all the options they were ordered with.

Exactly this. I told the dealer I didn't have a problem buying elsewhere a couple states away and riding it back, but I absolutely wanted all the parts described on BMW's website to be installed as ordered or I'm not taking delivery. As Lee stated that wasn't the case late last year/early this year. ESA, TPS, speakers on R18s, Brembos vs Hayes, etc. have all been missing or substituted.

Ordering a 2022 has been rough for some buyers and now production has been halted.

Debbie and I were lucky. We received what we ordered without any delays.
Evan had to order a 2nd time to get what he wanted but it the bike he wanted finally arrived.

Thanks for the clarification. The confusion was with the words “have been” in the above. With your clarification I can now read it as “are being”.

Maybe I missed it, but the article that was linked has nothing to do with Motorrad production or the Berlin factory.

That's what I thought and why I asked if it affected bikes.
In post #3 Wessie has a link saying it also affects the bikes.

I'll be stopping by the shop today to pick up a part (bike's not modded/completed yet, not to mention it's in the 30s), so I'll see what Peter is hearing...

It will be interesting to see if he has any news. I tried a search for "BMW Motorrad Plant Shut Down"
and the only articles I found were from 2020.
I also tried "bmw motorrad production paused in Berlin 2022" with no results.

We had a couple inches of snow last night. We keep getting these little snows that don't amount to anything but the DOT keeps salting the roads Sad

I have a 6 PM appointment with my dealer to sit down and discuss ordering a new RS. I have a shit-load of anxiety about it being able to delivered within a reasonable time now. Ugh.

The good news of the day is that I got the Hat Trick of surprises when I stopped in to the shop to pick up a cable: 1. The bike is all but ready (end of day today); 2) The MSO (Certif of Origin) arrived this morning; and 3. The Motorrad Connected Cradles arrived. Picking up the bike on Saturday!

The bad news is that in a chat with the owner, he readily acknowledged that parts availability issues are affecting how, when and (sometimes) if bikes are being built. What the specific issues are come down to specific models and options. He mentioned adaptive headlights just as an example. Sounds messy.
