Just about every GS had the required aluminum bags. There were a decent number of RTs, but I only saw four RSs, including mine, and one 1250R. As rare were the 4-cylinder bikes with one S1000XR and one S1000RR spotted.
Vendors reflected the heavy ADV rider population. Those guys have the space and money to farkle and the aftermarket knows it. It makes sense why there are so few aftermarket parts for the 1250R and 1250RS. Why would anyone bother designing anything that doesn't fit a GS?
First BMW National Rally? I am always amazed at the same thing myself ... and despite the high number of GSs maybe most never see dirt and owners just have them because they are comfortable and can pretty much do anything competently. Darrell reported that he saw a fairly large number of RSs this time around so maybe you were in a different area. Lots of grey heads there though, and that is why the S bikes are very poorly represented. Just have to look at the Owners News magazine to see what bikes are the focus. Hardly any mention ever of S bikes.
