That makes a lot of sense, Mike, but maybe not so much a technology thing, as opposed to a cost / benefit thing - for them. Aside from a recurring payment they could track what people are looking at to gain intel about what areas are being worked on by DIYers ...
No one could then accuse them of not offering a manual while at the same time many would be hesitant to buy a subscription-based manual, thereby achieving the same goal ...
If I'm remembering right dealers pay in the thousands for a subscription.
Car dealer have been using this system for awhile.
