Hello All,
I've been a preferred Michelin tire guy for almost 10-15 yrs now and have tried the Road 3-4-5's probably exclusively. I've come to realize my "rain riding" is extremely rare and I might have been caught 2-3 times in an actual downpour in 10 yrs time. Thus, I am considering moving away from the Road's to another brand. I'd like to construct a riders tire survey to get an idea what everybody else is riding on? I'm still interested in longevity of course but can give up rain mode for more stickiness. Not exactly sure how to proceed/construct with the survey though?
cheers

When creating a new message, there is an option at the bottom to create a poll. I believe that polls can only be created as part of the first post in a thread, but am not absolutely positive.
What tires were you interested in listing as options?

I'd start with these here
Metzeler Roadtech 01
Michelin Road 5-6
Bridgestone T-32
Pirelli Angel
Dunlop Roadsmart IV
Continental RoadAttack IV
Bridgestone Battlax T30
But I'm sure there are other tires out there people are using and probably sportier tires to boot

Let me see if I can add the poll to this thread after the first message. Not at the computer now.

Love it. Would be interested to see if the group's current choice of tires match industry sales.

I had Michelin road 5/6s on my bike when I got it. Used Metzelers on my previous XR which were great so put them on my RS, and the front in particular has not worn well, feathering creating a vibration. Will go back to the Michelins when the new season comes around.

On my second set of Metzeler Roadtec 01SE. First set went about 9000, not really 100% gone but had run rear so that it was pretty flat in the middle. Probably had another 1000 to 1500 on the rear and 2500 for the front.

GG - might add MrVvrroomm's 3 Rs (round, rubber, rebate) as an option, and I believe there are still some Dunlop RS III fans out there.
Also - last time I saw Lee's old 2016, it was sporting Dunlop Mutants courtesy of another owner - yet another option that might catch a few clicks.

Hahaha ... good idea - Done! I didn't add the RS IIIs separately and I didn't modify the line for the IV to include IIIs since it already had votes. Anyone one liking the IIIs can vote for the IV. This tire poll can get onerous (not to mention splitting the vote) if we keep adding different favourites.

Did your RS have the Road 5 or Road 6?

I am surprised that more votes have not come in for the poll ... only 13 so far.

A person might have liked a Road 6 but not the 5.
Same thing with the Road Smart IV and III.

I suppose, but in that case they could have voted for the item and then clarified their vote with a comment in the thread. By not voting at all we have no idea. Oh well ...

Sorry, was completely wrong, they were Metzeler Roadtec Z8s. Didn’t think they were fantastic, changed to the 01s and the front has worn poorly in less than a couple of thousand miles. Will try Michelins or maybe the Dunlop’s next as they have a lot of votes.

As an example, I liked all the Michelin Road tires I've had on my bikes, but treadwear/life dropped at generation 5 and the prices jumped. The Dunlop RS4 is similar or better on wear/tread life and the price is lower.
I knocked, but the door was open.......

I liked the Pilot Road 4 but did not like the tire life of the 5. Never tried the Road 6.

Voted for Michelin - swapped them on my CVO Harley since the Dunlops track rain grooves etc.
But will probably go Pirelli (my race tire of choice) on the RS, which is finally coming home today.
