shaft drive rubber boots
#1
Is anyone using a "grease" or "paste" to prevent water entry in this area ??

I was thinking of rubbing my finger just along the inside of these boots (both edges of the front & rear boots) where they contact the metal portion of the drive shaft housing itself....as a preventative measure.

Does that make any sense to-do ??

There is suitable product found at trucker outlets & auto stores.

Yes. This is what I use, and I show how I apply it in my Driveshaft Service videos: Dielectric Grease/Silicone Paste/Waterproof Marine Grease.

Hi,
I’m new to this bmw bike forum and maybe late on this post. I’ve used this on the boot starting with my ‘06 RT and now my ‘RTW.
Yamalube ACC Marine Grease. Easy to work with, stays in place, doesn’t dry out.
I apply it most around the inside clips. As it says, super tacky, water proof against salt and corrosion. Moisture doesn’t get past this.
