Hello from Hawaii!
#1
Greetings,

Found you looking for tools on google...

I'm from Colorado and I've been riding since 2019 on a 2016 BMW 1200RS, my first and only bike I bought with no previous riding experience, after taking a California BRC class "because I thought it would be more fun then go-cart riding" and became an instant all weather full-time solo rider that's uncaged.  I've rode in hail, through snow patches, and pushed the limit of my bike on trails.  I bought it used with almost no miles from a dealer owner whose wife tipped it over after buying it and freaked out.  I replaced the mirror, edge guard, swapped to a lithium battery, then racked up 22,000+ miles.

I learned to ride in CA and was there for 5 years and have taken many BRC & road courses and taken it across up/down the state from San Diego to the Golden Gate, to Denver and been to Sturgis.  I currently ride in Hawaii every day.  I like to moto-camp with a bivy for 3 days at a time (favorite go-to is mainland at Outlook Mountain, CA and #1 middle of Arizona desert for that sweet purple Milky-Way ...but morning attacking bees...) bringing everything ultra compact with oak firewood but otherwise ride it without any bags or top case.  I know a lot of weird things about the 1200RS.

The most miles I've done in a day was 884 miles.  I sold my dearly loved 2014 Mustang GT heavily modified to get the 1200RS and no regrets.  Bike-u is Wife-u.  I currently serve in the US Navy as Enlisted E6 in for the past 14 years debating about "doing the 20" and am currently the lead motorcycle safety coordinator for my ship.

Welcome to the Forum Community and of course than you for your service. You will find lots of good information on the R12xx RS here. Good to hear that you like motocamping also - that is a primary motorcycling focus of mine, so dear to my heart.

Welcome and thank you for your service. Hawaii - what a dream posting! 14 in.... makes sense to do the 20. Sounds like your RS is well loved. Keep at it.
