A very warm welcome to maybe the first
posting member from France ... And a "young" one at that!

There is one other member (who is yet to post).
Thanks for the introduction, which I was able to read, thanks to Google Translate.
I too have no problem with the mellow sound of the original exhaust, although the size of the thing was a bit much. Other than the panniers I too have no BMW accessories aside from the GPS (Navigator VI) which is really a Garmin. BMW accessories are typically not enough value to get me to open my wallet, and I am at the point now where there will be nothing added to my RS. I enjoy it as is, and if I have needs that it cannot meet then I look to another bike.

Niort to Paris is a long commute! We find the French very friendly to bikers, so we cross La Manche at least once most years. We find the extra noise of our second-hand Akrapovic makes lane-splitting just that little bit safer.

I avoid the city centre as much as possible and even after 25 years it is foreign to me.
Riding in Houston in the hell that is almost 9 months of the year (especially in June - October) takes some getting used to and it still is not easy. I commute year-round and I typically go in early in the morning before it gets too hot (sometimes approaching 75 deg.F but with no sun) and when I leave in the afternoon it is often over 95 deg.F. My ride is 30 minutes approx. through the suburbs so by the time I get home I am quite hot and sweating a bit. We move from air-conditioned place to place and for me, I spend as little time outside as possible.
Traffic can be bad yes, but where I live and work the timing of the ride is such that it is not too bad, even on a hot bike (Tiger 900RP) as I keep moving except for traffic lights. If I could not keep moving, I would not commute by bike. Not being able to filter / lane split in Texas does not help.

In English:
You're brave to ride in this heat, plus the heat from the engine; I don't know how you manage it.
My son was on a business trip in Saudi Arabia, and the colleague he was working with offered him a taxi to get back to his hotel, which was only 200 meters away. He refused, and he regretted it for those 200 meters.
I rode 900 km a few days ago, and I was very glad to have heated grips. You can cope with the cold, but for the heat, you need a car with air conditioning.
I owned a BMW R100RS in '79 (kept it for 14 years), and on the old continent, the RS models are difficult to resell compared to an RT, so when you buy an RS, you keep it.
