Exhaust/ muffler

As a follow-up, and as an attempt to extrapolate to the subject muffler - the Remus on my bike had to be removed in order to remove the rear wheel.

Without removal of the muffler the brake caliper was contacting the rim. I even considered rotating the muffler after disconnecting from the hanger but due to the mid-pipe design muffler rotation is not useful. That is one advantage of the stock muffler, which if memory serves correctly, can be rotated to allow careful removal of the rear wheel.

If you can rotate it, why not just remove it completely to get it out of the way? You've already done 90% of the work.

That's what I figured and I always remove the muffler.

Absolutely. That is why when I had the stock muffler I always removed it. No worries clunking the wheel then. The way I look at it, unless it can easily come it without even disconnecting the hanger, then muffler removal is the best way for me.

Going to fit this up to my Akrapovic slip on. Of note is that these headers have a bracket welded on to connect the unused exhaust valve cables.
